Check out Bakerella for some really neat baking ideas for the holidays!!! I reallllly want to get crafty and make some of these 'cake pops'....maybe I will surprise the girls at work?!?

Spencer is discovering all the apple+shift+ buttons of an apple computer...oh goodness....

waste of a day

Thanksgiving dinner for one. Ginger tea. Sweet......I only salivate when I think of turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy and pie.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I hope that you all enjoyed your brown foods and time with your family.
I am sitting in a lonely apartment that reeks of spray adhesive enjoying a cup of tea.
My roommates both went home (luckies!).
Spencer and I went on a hike today. That was probably the only good thing that happened.

I have been working on homework like a mad women -- well I was working on it until I realized I needed more supplies and conveniently EVERYTHING is closed for this holiday. Dumb if you ask me. Thanks giving has turned into another excuse for everyone to have a day off.

I envy all of you who have been able to spend today with your families. I don't even care about the food part, but not seeing my family is really starting to get to me. Plain and simple: it sucks. Two years ago I was flying back to the east coast almost every holiday, now a days....I head back east twice a year. I actually miss my 8 hours on the airplane adventures.

Days like today I wish my mom still lived in CB because I would have hopped in Syd and we would have made the trek 14 hours just to spend Thanksgiving with her.

I guess not being with your family are the sacrifice  you have to make when you are trying to start a career. If I am told 'it is because you are growing up' by one more person I am going to scream and karate chop their hand off like a ninja -- growing up does not mean grown away from your family (that is unless they completely tell you to bug off..ha).

Well, back to exacto-ing and gluing.

Just like a coloring book...just more time consuming.

Okay, soooo some of the photos wouldn't let me rotate them...but this is 1 of the 6 drawings that I had to do tonight...I made it 3 deep, I am going to finish the other 3 tomorrow before class. Pretty awesome though...I love looking at how it all comes together with color (and yes, I am fully aware that my lines are crooked -- we aren't allowed to use a ruler in this class, it kills me!) -- I wish I would have taken pictures of the one that I did before this one because it turned out AMAZING! Oh well, its not like this is the last thing I will be coloring in this quarter.....

It's funny because I get on such a roll with my homework and I don't want to go to sleep because I am so into what I am doing. I love every second of school! I never thought I would be counting down the days until my weekends were up, and dedicating my free time willingly to homework and creating -- I can even justify waking up early to color! ha.

Tonight is a night for popcorn and Ideation Sketching. I want nothing more than to just have time to write write write right now, but that isn't in the cards. Grrrrrr!

Note to self: get over it.

Note to self 2: Not worth the time to stress the small stuff.

Note to self 3: SCHOOL!

What is success mean to you? That has been floating around in my head alllllll day. How do you know when you are successful?

Saw some Monet...

There was a giant comb, good thing Spencer needed to fix his hair

Some Jeff Koons

"Teach me how to dougie"

Hide and Seek with Andy Warhol

Museum adventure time was well over due. SO -- last night Spencer and I headed to LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). It is free from 5:30-9 on week days if you are an LA county resident. Pretty awesome?!?! They are an interesting section featuring some of Blinky's 'Retrospective' work. They had some really great photography from William Eggleston -- his photo "Memphis" which was the LP cover for Jimmy Eat World was there! Neat! I have really enjoyed all the museums that we have gone to lately that have photography exhibitions. In another building there was a collection of European fashion, the textiles were beautiful! Wow! Some of the detail was just insane! It made me want to go right down to the district and buy some fabric (I haven't had time to sew for a while now...ugh -- I need some time to get creative). We saw some other interesting things......but my favorite was the Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons. I REALLY want to head over to MOCA sometime soon to check out more modern art.
I highly suggest heading over to LACMA on a week day night and taking advantage of the free admission if you live here! Ohhhh and they will be featuring a TIM BURTON exhibition starting at the end of May, I AM SO EXCITED! He had an exhibit in the MOMA a few months back that I REALLY wanted to go and see, but of course that is on the opposite side of the country. Darn. I decided that museuming at night is the BEST because you are able to spend the entire day doing whatever else needs to be done..... Well, check out LACMA [dot] COM to see what is going on!

ANDDDD of course...to make the night even better Spencer and I went to Dots cupcakes and Mezbaan to make our night that much more AHHHHHHMAZING! If you have time to run by Dots when you're in Pasadena get the Dulce de Sel -- probably the most amazing cupcake I have EVER had (no joke). General consensus is: get the mini cupcakes so you can sample and decide which is your favorite. AND seeing that each mini cupcake is only $1.50, you can splurge and get ohhhhhh 8 and not feel guilty. ha! The big ones are only $2.75, plus the people that worked there were really nice! As for Mezbaan....my favorite...duhhhh!!!!!!

This weekend, Saturday the 20th,  in Orange County is EAT, DRINK, PINK! a food and music festival to raise awareness for breast cancer. The company that I intern for (Hello Drama) is helping put the event on. Nylon Pink will be playing along with Stereo Fix. Some of the best food vendors around will gather and be serving scrumptious pink creations throughout the evening -- there will be sweet treats, and cocktails along with other delicious pink themed dishes. RSVP to the event through the website with your e-mail address. This is a free event and open to all ages, BUT a sampling and voting pass is $10 -- well worth it if you ask me! Tasting starts at 6 pm.

I guess fashion does this to you....

It's 1:38 in the morning. I am madly shoving macaroni and cheese in my mouth (it is the first thing I have had today besides cereal this morning at 9 am). I just got home from work -- yep. My does it feel good. I am absolutely exhausted from today, but it was well worth it. I have to do it all over again tomorrow. I received an e-mail from the photographer this evening once I got off my real job and it put a huge smile on my face...it was a picture from the shoot I had today. Pictures speak a thousand words and I cannot begin to tell you how rewarding it was to see how fantastic the picture turned out; it made me realize that I love what I am doing right now.....even if I am barely able to keep my eyes open at night and I am racing around downtown LA rounding up stuff from the next shoot in the wee hours of the morning -- in the long run it is so rewarding. I am so grateful to have these experiences, and to work with the people that I am working with!

Life update # 376

So here is a brief update to let you all know I am still alive...
Um, Monday and Tuesday swamped with school -- didn't get a wink of sleep. Got sick, it was horrible. Syd got hit by another day. Syd -1, other car- 0
It was there fault, but then to get back at me Syd decided to DIE in the GHETTOEST part of LA possible....at night too. I think she is telling me it is time to retire -- psh, yah if I could only afford to do that. Spencer came to the rescue.
Picked up closes for a photo shoot.
Slept like a baby.
Woke up, syd didn't want to start again. Super hero Spencer came to the rescue again. He should really consider car mechanic school instead of med school :)  ha ha ha.
Went to the shoot in Costa Mesa it went AHMAZZZZING!
Came home.
Running out the door to got to work until 11.
Repeat today tomorrow.
Thank goodness I have Friday off (or so I hope I do).

I have a bunch of homework, laundry and cleaning to do.

LACMA date with a few of my FIDM Friday night -- sooo looking forward to it! YES!

Check off the bucket list: Change someone's life.

I was able to help out the fabulous Christina McKinny tonight. I am helping change her life -- I don't want to explain how...but when your bestfriend is in need of some help you gotta help them out.

Another check off the bucket list "changing someone's life" and she has a long YOUTHFUL life ahead of her! <3

I love Christina!!!

Thank you.

Dear Mom and Dad,

Wow, 24. I can't believe that this day finally hit. It seems like just yesterday that I was running around the house in Jacksonville. I was telling the store the other night about how I tried to make my own version of mac'n'cheese one night and I put powdered sugar in thinking it was flour accompanied with parmesan cheese -- ha ha ha. Dad, I remember your face to this day; so repulsed and of course, I will never forget the night you broke the wooden spoon on my butt. It was my punishment for jumping up and down on your bed saying 'ssssssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh' pretending like I was peeing. ha. I must have been 6 years old at them time. Mom, the picture that pops up on my phone when you call is the one of you and I in the fur hats where we look like Russian spies -- every time I get into my car I think of our first drive back from Gunnison once I got my license (thanks to DON leaving the room). One of my favorite pictures to this day is the one of Peter Rabbit and I in the cage together -- those were the days -- what cool parents I had....and of course, who would reward (okay, maybe the word I am looking for is bribe instead) their child with Toblerone chocolate after they take a mega summer-salt crash on skis? My parents......the same people that made me fall in love with the snow lifestyle.....

It is amazing that I have grown up so quickly -- who knows maybe it has felt like eons for both of you...haha!  I can't even imagine what is has to be like being a parent and watching your child get older....

I am so grateful for everything that both of you have done for me, through thick and thin. You both have taught me so much -- how to stick up for myself, how to be independent, you have been the best support I could ask for, you both have made me into the person that I am today. I respect you both immensely for the things you have done for me.  Thank you for pushing me so much; even when I didn't want to go any further. Thank you for telling me to suck it up, and that it will help me in the long run. Mom, thank you for being the person to always answer my upset phone calls and fly me to the east coast to share some quality time together. Dad, thank you for giving me the hugs that you did the last couple years -- they have impacted me so much.

More than anything, thank you for making sure that I had a top of the line education. The more time that I am able to reflect on school, the more I am so happy that my parents were able to put me in such a great curriculum. Thank you both for letting me gain 'street smarts' by dragging me all across the United States to different ski areas. THANK YOU FOR TEACHING ME HOW TO SKI, and finally convincing me to start biking. My parents have been the best teachers I could have asked for. I never thought that I could scale different lifestyles, diversities, echelons ,educations and emotions all in one life.

Through all the disagreements, and head butting that we might have done previously, I LOVE both of you more than I can express. I am so happy that you are both my parents....even on days I wish you weren't and all the embarrassing situations you might have put me through....you both have been the BEST and I won't trade you for the world. Thank you for falling in love years ago and making me and of course the biggest inspiration of my life -- Sarah.

Wow, twenty-four years.
